Suddenly camp is over!
Well Thursday was a highlight! We went sailing on lake Taupo! What could be more fun.
When the kIds weren't out on the water really sailing they were kyaking around!
A neat day.

Friday was a bit slower.. we went on the HUKA JETS!!!!!
WOW. Mr Weir has some neat photos of both the sailing and the jet boating so we are looking forward to seeing these!

Friday from bout 12 til 4.30 we went Trout fishing in Turangi. Everone caught their very own trout.. we had a scaenger hunt and all in all leanred alot more about rainbow trout and the more ellusive brown trout....
This was aneat place and resource and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the time and the fishing of course.....

It was then off to Tauramanui by about 4.40ish for dinner and then the back road from there to Toko!

It went very well without it seems a hint of travel sickness! Perhap due to the speed of the bus.
We had a little emergency toliet stop at the Whanga pub!
All in all with three stops to let kids off ( and find their bags) we arrived in town at about 10.30pm with still more parents eagerly awaiting the rreturn of their children!

The journey home gave Heather and I a chance to plan a few camp based learning activites over the next few weeks.
Thought we might base the maths around the fishing!! Great stats unit for a week or so. Length weight etc
Thought we might also use the new colour photocopier and develop informational posters for each of the businesses/ enterproses we went to.. Do a sorta sales/highlights poster for display in their office or window about the learning that can go on here! The use of the digital photos would be key, incorporating a map, information, picture to give an impression of what is to be gained by going there!
Plus of course we had quite a bit to do with life cycles and importantly the continued use and value of natural resources of the area... so lots of opportunities to do valuable and meanigful follow up!

So far so good. Kids have been great and enhusiastic about all the activities. Caving in Waitomo was a highlight. We had to crawl through squeeze holes and clamber up water falls. Samuel managed to get a cave weta to jump on my nose much to his delight!!We visited the bee hive yesterday and found out about these amazing insects .They are a wonderful example of Gods design and creation.Today its off sailing.

hi this is camp mum kay shearer. i am having a great time, had a lovely warm swim in the pools after seeing alot of thermal pools on wednesday. boy can girls talk late at night but when i'm snoring at night it's play back time! oh us parents had a great big juicy steak for tea, how spoilt is that for tea! looking forward to sailing and kayaking.

Hi there!
From bees to dams to the pools to the gysers!!
I thought the visit and talk about the bees was great... and free.
What was really neat was the number of boys buying their mums presents!

We saw the opening of the "flood gates" at the first dam on the river.
We learned that the Waikato has about 6 dams!

We saw the best hot mud pools that I can remember! Hot burbing bloating bubbling mud.

We saw an amazing cave ( the largest geothermal cave in the southern hemisphere!

We spent a lot of time in the AC pool... well the kids and John and Paul sure did.
Awesome day, hot too!

Kids looked shot this evening when we arrived home at about 8.30 after BBQ dinner at pools. Time for showers and beddy byes!
Tomorrow,,,, sailing of course!

Hey guys I am from Toko school in Taranaki we stayed at Waitomo Caves on Monday the 30th of October and departed for Taupo on the 31st of October and are staying at LTCC.
LTCC stands for L-Lake T-Taupo C-Christen C-Camp. We went to the Huka falls and watched the water fall of the top of the water falls. We also went to the opening of the dam and went in the same area and watched the Huka Jet go flying across the water and figured out that we are going on it on Friday the 3rd of November. We are going sailing on the 2nd of November from 10:00 - 4:00pm we went to the AC Baths,and guess what the AC Baths are on Spa RD get what i am saying well some people might not find that funny but I do.(LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL.) L-Laugh O-Out L-loud. I will stop gas bagging and go to bed because I am so tired and the reason for that is the teachers and parents have warn me inside out. Goodnight.

Well this monring we went for a walk around the geysers then we went to a look out to see the gas fields. We also went to see the dam drop!!! and then we went to the a c baths.i have lost my voice completely and every one keeps laughing at me.
